From staff reports
Gamehaven Scout Reservation, the regional Boy Scout camp south of
Rochester, is expanding to be more useful for scouts.
Facilities at the camp, which replaced Camp Kahler nine years ago,
are geared more toward Cub Scouts, said Jennifer Butson, development
director for Gamehaven Council of Boy Scouts of America. Boy Scouts
and other teenagers involved in scouting use the camp but don't
have many of the things they would like.
In the next two phases of the camp's development, facilities for
older scouts, including a large dining hall, will be added. The
cost of the two phases will be $910,320, with $462,384 raised so
far. The Rochester Area Foundation recently announced it will
give the camp $25,000 for a new dining room, she said.
Phase 2 will be a short-term high adventure camp with nine
campsites for older boys, two program pavilions, a road and a
climbing tower.
The final phase will be the dining lodge.
